Sherman Mayor John Patterson gets his head shaved at Sherman Day festivities is the event captured in Destination Chautauqua County's most recent television production. The program will air on Access Channel 5 at 12:30 and 6:30 PM each day, beginning August 9, and ending on August 15.
Some of the participants giving the mayor his buzz include New York State Senator Cathy Young along with Sherman resident and former county legislator Fred Croscut. Mayor Patterson estimated that he has totaled around $7,500 which will be donated to Roswell Park Cancer Institute for research. His wife is a 2-time cancer survivor, who just found out this past Christmas that she is once again free of cancer.
The cable program is carried in the following communities: Chautauqua, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman and Westfield. All cable viewers in the mentioned area can receive Access Channel 5, which is now digital, at channel 5 on a converter, or channel 21.4 on a flat-panel TV with no converter.
