Jon Nakamatsu will be the next person interviewed on Chautauqua People.
The program will air at 1:30 and 7:30 PM each day beginning on August 8, with the last airing on August 14.
Pianist Jon Nakamatsu is one of the world's great soloists and chamber musicians. Born in California, where he still makes his home with his wife Kathy, he travels 80 percent of his time to perform all over the world with some of the most well known ensembles.
A teacher of Master Piano Classes to Chautauqua piano students since 2013, Jon won the Gold Medal at the 1997 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He was the first American in 16-years to win the First Prize at the famous Van Cliburn Competition.
In addition to his busy concertizing schedule, Jon also is co-director of the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival in Massachusetts. In 2014 he performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra. He gave a critically acclaimed piano recital at Chautauqua in July 2015.
